Inter-osseous anaesthesia of raptors using the combination of ketamine-xylazine

Inter-osseous anaesthesia of raptors using the combination of ketamine-xylazine

Selezione Veterinaria ( 8/9): 839-844

168 birds of prey belonging to 10 different genera underwent surgery using inter-osseous administration of ketamine and xylazine. All the raptors were young animals (less than one year-old) and were divided into 3 groups according to sex, body weight and different injuries. Suggested doses are given for inter-osseous anaesthesia with ketamine-xylazine in raptors, according to the different age and diseases that affected the birds.
