Interacting factors in tillage energy demands

A comparison of fuel consumption during ploughing with sharp and blunt shares is made. A Massey Ferguson 3690 with a 7-share reversible Lemken Vario plough was tested during mustard incorporation on soil with an average moisture content of 18.83%. The depth of ploughing, operational width, pass time and fuel consumption were measured in accordance with Czech standards. New sharp, older, slightly blunted, and blunt shares were used in two sets of tests.
