Jasmonic acid mediated interactions between plants, herbivores, parasitoids, and pathogens: a review of field experiments in tomato

Jasmonic acid mediated interactions between plants, herbivores, parasitoids, and pathogens: a review of field experiments in tomato

Induced plant defenses against pathogens and herbivores: biochemistry, ecology, and agriculture: 319-334

Recent experiments are reviewed in which jasmonic acid was sprayed on agriculturally grown tomato plants to manage pests. Induction with jasmonates simulated herbivore-mediated induction, and was associated with high levels of several putative defense proteins. This chemical induction was also associated with induced resistance to a wide variety of the major herbivores of tomato, as well as increased levels of parasitism of caterpillars.
