Life cycle of lixa grande disease of coconuts

Life cycle of lixa grande disease of coconuts

Agrotropica 11(1): 41-44

The infection process of lixa grande disease (Sphaerodothis acrocomiae) was studied in different coconut cultivars. The first symptoms of infection were observed approximately 100 days after inoculation and usually 10 months were required for the formation of a diamond shape lesion, 8 to 9 cm long. Lesions on tall and green dwarf coconut cultivars were slightly larger than those on red and yellow dwarf coconut cultivars.
