Maize fertilizer trials were carried out in rainfed conditions at the Agricultural Research Station Teleorman in 1977-96. Ten years in this period were considered as drought years, 5 normal and 5 wet years. Weather conditions influenced maize grain yield and utilization of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer. The maize grain yield under rainfed conditions depended mainly on rain in June-August rather than accumulated rainfall for the whole growth period.
