N requirement and N uptake in high-yielding winter wheat: effects of high nitrogen applications on grain yield and yield components

Studies were carried out during 1996-99 in the Netherlands to compare different rates of N fertilizer (200-360 kg N/ha) on crop yield of winter wheat (cultivars Vivant and Ritmo). The 1st application in all studies was 140 kg N - Nmin. Nmin (0-100 cm) varied between 10 and 95 kg/ha, depending on N level at the end of winter.
