Performance and carcass quality of commercial broiler strains

Performance and carcass quality of commercial broiler strains

Journal of Applied Poultry Research 9(2): 252-257

Several broiler strains commonly used in the Middle East were evaluated for performance and carcass quality. In the first of 2 experiments, body weight (BW) and feed conversion ratio (FCR) of three strains were studied at 21 and 49 days of age. The weight of abdominal fat pad (AFP), percentage of AFP, and ready-to-cook (RTC) carcass weight were evaluated at 49 days of age. In the second experiment, RTC carcass protein, moisture, and fat were determined for three other broiler strains.
