Performance of different fodder crops under recommended and partially recommended fertilizer doses in lateritic soil of West Bengal

In a field experiment during winter 1996/97 at Palli Siksha Bhavana, West Bengal, India, oats Kent, maize A-de-Cuba, Chinese cabbages, cowpeas EC 4216 and ricebeans K-1 were given 0, 75 or 100% of recommended NPK fertilizer. Number of tillers/branches/leaves, plant height and forage yield increased with increasing NPK rate. Maize gave the highest forage yield, followed in order by oats, Chinese cabbages, ricebeans and cowpeas.
