Physiological and biochemical peculiarities of new high-protein lines of high-lysine maize

Physiological and biochemical peculiarities of new high-protein lines of high-lysine maize

Fiziologiya i Biokhimiya Kul' turnykh Rastenii 30(6): 436-444

Field trials in 1992-94 in Russia showed that new high protein lines of high lysine (HL) maize have an efficient photosynthetic apparatus, high nitrate reductase activity (NRA) in leaves, high grain productivity potential under favourable conditions (about 100 g/plant), and increased capability for retaining productivity under moderate southern-type droughts. They are significantly superior to standard lines of HL maize in grain protein content and drought resistance.
