Progress on development of root-knot nematode resistant and reniform nematode tolerant cotton germplasm

Progress on development of root-knot nematode resistant and reniform nematode tolerant cotton germplasm

2000 Proceedings Beltwide Cotton Conferences, San Antonio, USA, 4-8 January, 2000: Volume 1: 561-562

In the USA, root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne incognita race 3) and reniform nematodes (Rotylenchulus reniformis) are the most economically damaging pests of upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum). There has been progress in developing root-knot nematode resistant germplasm, but development of reniform nematode resistant germplasm has received little attention. This report summarizes progress made by USDA-ARS at Weslaco and College Station, Texas, in recent years.
