A study was undertaken to investigate the effect of suckling and milking stimuli on release of prolactin and its relationship with milk production in buffaloes. Jugular blood samples from six suckled and six weaned Murrah buffaloes were collected 30 minutes before and five minutes after completion of evening milking on days 3, 7, 10, 12, 20, 30 and thereafter every fortnight upto day 90 post calving. The milk yields of all the experimental animals were also recorded upto day 90 of lactation.
