, : Protective activity of some indigenous medicinal plants on gastric ulceration in albino rats. Journal of Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Sciences 22/23(4A/1A): 89-90

Male albino rats were divided into 5 groups of 6 rats each and treated intraperitoneally with: piroxicam (5 mg/kg), piroxicam and Vitex negundo (1000 mg/kg), aspirin (200 mg/kg), aspirin and Withania somnifera (500 mg/kg), and aspirin and W. somnifera (1000 mg/kg), daily for 7 days. The rats were sacrificed on the eighth day and examined for the presence and severity of ulcers. Piroxicam produced 11.50+or-1.64 ulcers per stomach.
