Reduction of weight gain and mortality caused by diarrhea in suckling piglets

Reduction of weight gain and mortality caused by diarrhea in suckling piglets

Pesquisa Agropecuaria Gaucha 4(2): 205-207

The present work discusses the occurrence of diarrhoea, weight gain reduction and their effects on piglet mortality in a pig farm of Large White and Duroc pigs in Parana, in 1991 and 1992. Diarrhoea was present in 48,6% among 210 litters analysed. There was a reduction in weight gain of 21%, 20%, 14% and 09%, on first, second, third and fourth week of life, respectively.
