Relationship among disease development of chrysanthemum white rust, temperature and rain fall

In 1996 chrysanthemums were pinched out at various dates from 14 May to 4 June, whereafter rainfall and temperature were monitored and the date of the first occurrence of white rust (Puccinia horiana) was observed. In 1997 the incidence of optimum temperature for disease development after pinching out was investigated. White rust developed more rapidly when pinching out was delayed.
