Reproductive performance of group-housed sows under ad libitum feeding conditions

Reproductive performance of group-housed sows under ad libitum feeding conditions

Zuchtungskunde 73(5): 334-342

In 4 successive experiments, each involving 30-34 sows, body weight and backfat thickness were monitored from days 35 to 110 of pregnancy. In 3 of the experiments, dietary energy fed was reduced by increasing the fibre content of the diet due to inclusion of 20% dried sugarbeet pulp, wheat bran or wheat straw flour. In the other experiment, a conventional diet was fed. Data were also recorded on controls sows on the conventional diet, but with non-ad lib feeding.
