Research regarding the degree of weed infestation and the weed control measures taken in maize crops in the area of podzolic soils in the south of Romania



Probleme de Agrofitotehnie Teoretica si Aplicata 19(1): 31-44



During 1980-1994, weeds in maize in this area averaged 14.4 t/ha, with variations ranging between 3.4 t/ha (in 1988) and 28.2 t/ha (in 1984). Of these, monocotyledons represented 79.4% (11.4 t/ha), and annual dicotyledons 20.6% (3.0 t/ha). The following species prevailed: Echinochloa crus-galli, Digitaria sanguinalis, Amaranthus retroflexus, Polygonum persicaria and Raphanus raphanistrum.
