Resistance to Zucchini yellow mosaic virus (ZYMV) in transgenic cucumber plants (Cucumis sativus L.) harboring the coat protein gene of ZYMV

Resistance to Zucchini yellow mosaic virus (ZYMV) in transgenic cucumber plants (Cucumis sativus L.) harboring the coat protein gene of ZYMV

Bulletin of the National Research Institute of Vegetables, Ornamental Plants and Tea ( 16): 175-186

Cotyledon explants of cucumber seeds were infected with Agrobacterium tumefaciens harbouring the binary vector driving both the coat protein gene of zucchini yellow mosaic virus (ZYMV-CP gene) and the neomycin phosphotransferase (NPT-II) gene. Subsequent selection of kanamycin resistance and amplification of the ZYMV-CP gene by polymerase chain reaction confirmed that 19 transformed regenerants were produced from a cultivar Shinhokusei 1-gou and 7 from Aofushinari.
