A field experiment was conducted during 1991-97 at Sehore to study the direct effect of nitrogen in plant and ratoon sugarcane crops and the residual effects obtained from pressmud applied in plant cane. The sugarcane crop responded significantly in terms of cane yield, sugar yield and nutrient uptake up to the highest application rate of 300 kg N/ha.
