Over 18% of agricultural land in Lithuania is on acidic soils. Under decreased liming conditions caused by the present economic, situation there is a need to understand the behaviour of crops under higher soil acidity. A study was conducted into the variation in acid and heavy metal tolerance among seedlings of spring barley (Hordeum vulgare) cultivars Aura, Alsa, Ula, Auksiniai-3, Baronessa and Dzivosnij.
