Agenda 21, a document which was agreed upon by 178 nations on the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992, calls for sustainable development. Chapter 14 of this Agenda specifically deals with agriculture and the challenges to be faced in food production and environmental protection.
