The allergic response of dogs (Canis familiaris L, 1758) to flea antigens (Ctenocephalides felis felis Bouche, 1835) (Siphonaptera: Pulicidae)

The allergic response of dogs (Canis familiaris L, 1758) to flea antigens (Ctenocephalides felis felis Bouche, 1835) (Siphonaptera: Pulicidae)

Revista Brasileira de Medicina Veterinaria 21(6): 255-259

To investigate the allergic response of dogs to C. felis felis, 13 dogs of different breeds, ages and sex were each intradermally inoculated with extract of whole fleas which had fed on dog blood, extract of whole fleas which had not fed on dog blood, histamine solution (positive control) and saline (negative control). The magnitude of local skin reactions in response to the inoculations was measured and compared.
