The effect of plant density and N availability on the capacity of light interception by the canopy of silage maize

The effect of plant density and N availability on the capacity of light interception by the canopy of silage maize

Agro Ciencia 15(1): 5-12

The effect of plant density and N availability on light interception by the canopy of silage maize Asgrow 899, and the variations in the light extinction coefficient (K), were evaluated in an experiment carried out at the Experimental Station of the Universidad de Talca, Chile during 1994-95. Four plant densities were studied: 6, 8, 10 and 12 plants m-2, under three N levels: 200, 320 or 440 kg ha-1. K values were 0.64, 0.65, 0.78 and 0.93, for 12, 10, 8 and 6 plants m-2, respectively.
