Seeds of barley IB-65 with moisture contents (m.c.) of 4 or 10% were exposed to 200, 400 or 600 Gy of gamma radiation and stored at 23 or 33% m.c. With increase in radiation dose, there was an almost linear increase in radiation damage (seedling damage and chromosomal aberrations), but with an increase in seed m.c. from 4 to 10%, there was a decrease in radiation damage at all the doses.
