The effects of dried mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris L.) leaves and rhizomes on germination and seedling growth of some crop species

Turkiye Herboloji Dergisi 2(2): 22-30

Studies were conducted to determine the allelopathic effects of mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris), a serious weed in the Black Sea region of Turkey, on the germination of seeds and seedling growth of different crop species. Dried and ground leaves or rhizomes of mugwort plants were used in pot experiments. The results showed that mugwort had a strong allelopathic effect on germination and seedling growth. Significant differences were detected between leaf and rhizome materials.
