The time of oviposition of Lucilia cuprina (Wiedemann, 1830) (Diptera: Calliphoridae) under laboratory conditions

The time of oviposition of Lucilia cuprina (Wiedemann, 1830) (Diptera: Calliphoridae) under laboratory conditions

Revista Brasileira de Medicina Veterinaria 21(3): 108-110

Eleven-day-old female L. cuprina were placed in cages with horse meat and maintained at 27 degrees C (60+or-10% relative humidity under 12 h of photophase) for 5 days. Egg masses were manually removed every 3 h from 06.00 to 18.00 h during the day and once from 18.00 to 06.00 h. Oviposition was observed during the 24 h, and 72.97% of oviposition occurred at 06.00 to 18.00 h.
