In a field trial at Sangli, Maharashtra in summer 1998 and 1999, groundnuts ICGS 11 were grown without mulching or with straw or polyethylene mulch on flat beds or broad beds and furrows. Pod, seed and haulm yields were not significantly affected by seedbed preparation, although net returns were greater with the broad bed and furrow system. Pod yield averaged 2.86 t/ha without mulch, 3.43 t with straw mulch and 4.06 t with polyethylene mulch.
