Yield response of two potato cultivars to supplemental irrigation and N fertilization in New Brunswick

Yield response of two potato cultivars to supplemental irrigation and N fertilization in New Brunswick

American Journal of Potato Research 77(1): 11-21

ISSN/ISBN: 1099-209X

In trials in 1995-97 at 4 on-farm sites in the upper St-John River Valley, New Brunswick, Canada, potatoes Russet Burbank and Shepody were given 0, 50, 100, 150, 200 or 250 kg N/ha with or without supplemental irrigation. On average, irrigation increased total yield from 31.9 to 38.4 t/ha and marketable yield from 25.6 to 30.7 t/ha. N significantly increased both total and marketable yields, and the yield response to N was greater with irrigation.
