A GIS-based hillslope erosion and sediment delivery model and its application in the Cerro Grande burn area

A profile-based, analytical hillslope erosion model (HEM) was integrated into a geographical information system (GIS) framework to provide a tool to assess the impact of the Cerro Grande fire on erosion and sediment delivery to the many streams draining the burn area. The model, HEM-GIS, calculates rill and interrill erosion, transport and deposition along digital flow-pathways generated with GIS software.
