AFLP (amplified fragment length polymorphism) analysis of Chinese mulberry wild silkworm (Bombyx mandarina) and domestic silkworm (Bombyx mori)

DNA polymorphism analysis and a molecular systematic study were conducted for the Chinese mulberry wild silkworm (B. mandarina) from 10 regions in China, 33 strains of domestic silkworm (B. mori) and 5 strains of tussah (Antheraea pernyi) as the outgroups using the AFLP technique. The genetic distance (0.000-0.419) of mulberry wild silkworm between different regions was similar to that (0.000-0.406) of domestic silkworm between strains.
