Abstract
Freshwater teleost T. mossambica were exposed to different concentrations of Blue Wheel and Surf to determine their acute toxicity. Lethal concentration (LC50) values were determined for 96 hours after detergent exposure. Toxicity ranges were between 6 and 20 mg/l for Blue Wheel and 1 and 8 mg/l for Surf. Alterations in red blood corpuscles (RBC), haemoglobin percentage (Hb %), mean corpuscular haemoglobin (MCH) and general behaviour were also studied.
