Antagonism of cowpea Rhizobium against Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goid causing root rot of mungbean

Effects of simultaneous infection of mungbean with its root rot pathogen Macrophomina phaseolina and the symbiont Rhizobium sp. in the roots, on nodulation, disease intensity and grain yield were studied for two consecutive years. The crop raised from Rhizobium inoculated seeds gave a significantly higher yield.
