Biological control of sheath blight (Rhizoctonia solani) in transplanted rice (Oryza sativa)

A field experiment was conducted during the rainy seasons of 1998 and 1999 in Siruguppa, Karnataka, India, to evaluate the efficacy of three biological control agents (Pseudomonas fluorescens, Trichoderma viride and T. harzianum) in reducing the incidence of sheath blight disease of rice (cv. BPT 5204) under transplanted conditions. The biological control agents were applied as seed treatments or as root dip + a spray (R+S).
