Forty Santa Gertrudis steers were evaluated for their body composition and body weight gain after being fed 70% maize silage and 30% concentrate. From each carcass, slaughtered at the beginning and end of the experiment, the 9th to 11th rib section was taken, and its physical and chemical composition were determined. It was observed that an increasing empty body weight decreases protein content in the empty body, but increases fat and energy content.
