Changes in chemical properties of stored pig slurry solids amended with zeolite

Changes in chemical properties of stored pig slurry solids amended with zeolite

Technology transfer Proceedings of the 9th International Conference on the FAO ESCORENA Network on recycling of agricultural, municipal and industrial residues in agriculture, Gargano, Italy, 6-9 September 2000: 217-222

The solid fraction of pig slurry, separated in the initial stage of slurry treatment, presents a risk due to high concentration of nutrients and contamination with bacteria, viruses and parasites. It should be composted before disposal to croplands. However, under practical conditions, simple storage without adding some bulking agents has been practiced frequently.
