Characterization of Frankia nodulating Casuarina in Tunisia

Characterization of Frankia nodulating Casuarina in Tunisia

Microbial strains nodulating the four main Casuarina species (C. glauca, C. cunninghamia, Allocasuarina torulosa and A. verticillata) in Tunisia were studied. The morphological, biochemical and nutritional characterization in pure culture of five isolates from their nodules, show that they do belong to the Frankia genus. In addition they can nodulate their original host.
