Abstract
The coat protein (CP) gene of a Chinese isolate of barley yellow dwarf virus-PAV (BYDV-PAV) was cloned using RT-PCR. Sequence analysis showed that the CP gene contains 600 nucleotides encoding 199 amino acids. Nucleotide similarity with other reported PAV isolates was 81% higher than that with other strains. Deduced amino acid similarity was also higher than the other strains. Compared with other PAV isolates, the difference was mainly in the amino acids located from positions 46 to 60.
