Coexistence DNA of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato and Babesia microti in Ixodes ricinus ticks from north-western Poland

Coexistence DNA of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato and Babesia microti in Ixodes ricinus ticks from north-western Poland

Annals of Agricultural and Environmental Medicine 9(1): 25-28

The tick Ixodes ricinus may carry microorganisms that cause serious human and animal diseases, i.e., Lyme disease (borreliosis), caused by the spirochaete Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato and babesiosis, caused by Babesia microti. Both microbe species may co-occur in the same and other species of tick and produce a mixed infection in humans and animals.
