This study examined the association between obesity, physical activity, diabetes mellitus (DM) and blood sugar level, and the risk of colorectal cancer in a cohort of 36 975 men and 38 244 women in Norway, which was established between 1984 and 1986. Subjects (aged >=20 years) had no history of any cancer at study entry, and were followed-up until 1 January 1996.
