Spraying of mother bushes with fungicides and antibiotics individually and in combination, prior to the collection of explants, were tested to reduce the microbial contamination in tea tissue culture. Single spray was superior to double spray of chemicals, as lethality was more in the latter. Of the combinations tested, bavistin with tetracycline and chloramphenicol were promising.
