Alternative uses of sugarbeet have been researched by Prague Sugar Research Institute since 1993; combined sugar and bio-ethanol production was tested in a pilot scheme in a sugarbeet factory with a capacity of 7050 t/day. The current, second, phase of the research is focused on the effect that the use of various sugar intermediate products has on the overall factory production. The potential of 3 raw materials is assessed: raw juice, concentrated juice and B (black) syrup.
