Journal of Research, Birsa Agricultural University 14(2): 203-209

ISSN/ISBN: 0971-1724

The combining ability of 9 Niger (G. abyssinica) cultivars (CHH-1, GA-10, Phule-4, RCR-290, BNC-120, Ootacamund, Baum-1, BNH-1 and BNH-2) for 10 quantitative characters was determined in a field experiment conducted in Ranchi, India during the kharif season of 1999-2000. The overall heterosis was significant for all the characters tested including seed yield. The parents Phule-4, Baum-1 and GA-10 were good general combiners for seed yield per plant.
