Combining viable disease control tools for management of sesame stem-root rot caused by Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goid

An experiment was conducted to develop an integrated strategy for sesame stem-root rot (Macrophomina phaseolina) management using fungicides, bioagents, and nutrients. Carbendazim (0.1%) was the most effective among fungicides while salicylic acid and neem (Azadirachta indica) leaf extract at 1% (w/v) were best for controlling the mycelial growth of sesame stem-root rot pathogen. The pathogen was antagonized by native isolates of Trichoderma viride, Gliocladium virens, and T. harzianum.
