Bridal creeper, A. asparagoides, is a widespread weed of southern Australian bushland and remnant vegetation. It is recognized as the major threat to biodiversity in those habitats, and has been declared a weed of national significance. The bridal creeper leafhopper, Zygina sp., was released in Australia in 1999. Damage caused by both adult and nymph feeding is obvious, and appears as silver zigzag etchings on the foliage that is readily recognizable.
