Comparative assessment of Bulgarian Simmental calves fattened up to a different live weight in a three-wall shed

Comparative assessment of Bulgarian Simmental calves fattened up to a different live weight in a three-wall shed

Zhivotnov' dni Nauki 40(3/4): 16-18

The fattening ability and meat productivity of male Simmental calves fattened up to different liveweights and maintained in a three-wall shed with a yard were assessed. Three groups having 12 calves each, with an initial average liveweight of 188 kg and 208 days of age, were employed. It was found that the bulls reared in a three-wall shed with a yard grew most intensively to 500-550 kg live mass, gaining 1112 and 1099 g of average daily gain, respectively.
