Comparative incidence of insect pest complex on cotton varieties subjected to organic and synthetic fertilizers

A study was conducted to investigate the incidence of the pests whiteflies (Bemisia tabaci nymphs and adults), jassids (Amrasca davastans (A. biguttula biguttula) nymphs and adults) and thrips (Thrips tabaci), and percentage damage by spotted bollworms (Earias spp.) in cotton cultivars NIAB 98, FH-900, CIM-552, FH-901 and NIAB 86 subjected to organic fertilizer (farmyard manure, FYM, at recommended rates) and N at 69 kg/acre (half at time of sowing and half at first irrigation), P at 34 kg/acre at time of irrigation, K at 25 kg/acre at sowing. Results showed that the effects of fertilizers on pest incidence were non-significant.
