Comparative strength properties of six-year-old Acacia mangium and four-year-old Acacia hybrid

In this paper, comparative strength properties of a 4-year-old Acacia hybrid and 6-year-old A. mangium timbers, was studied at the Forest Research Institute Malaysia. Various tests such as modulus of elasticity, modulus of rupture, compression parallel to grain, hardness and shear parallel to grain of the hybrid timber were conducted. It was found that the strength properties of Acacia hybrid seemed to lie in between those of A. mangium on the lower and A. auriculiformis on the higher side.
