Comparative study on two artificial xenodiagnosis techniques in chronic chagasic patients

Comparative study on two artificial xenodiagnosis techniques in chronic chagasic patients

Revista de Patologia Tropical 30(1): 61-68

33 samples from patients with chronic Chagas' disease were analysed using 2 artificial xenodiagnostic techniques; one technique was proposed by Lima & Rey (1991) and the other by Silva (1991). In this study, 3rd instar Panstrongylus megistus, Rhodnius neglectus and Triatoma infestans nymphs were used. Six of 33 samples were found positive; 2 (6.06%) by the Lima & Rey technique and 4 (12.12%) by the Silva technique.
