Comparing superiority of cotton growing in Xinjiang: analysis on the ratios of grain-cotton per unit area yield

The ratios of grain-cotton per unit area yield in Xinjiang, Shandong and Anhui Provinces in China were compared during 1992-98. The ratios were 3.75, 7.24 and 5.07 in Xinjiang, Shandong and Anhui, respectively. The ratio obtained in Xinjiang was 3.5- and 2.6-fold lower than that obtained in Shandong and Anhui, respectively. Analysis revealed that the per unit area yield of cotton increased by 7.8% the following year when the ratio of the grain-cotton per unit area yield is reduced to 1.
