The sequences of hao (hydroxylamine oxidoreductase-encoding gene) in Nitrosomonas europaea C-31 and Nitrosospira (Nitrosolobus) multiformis ATCC 25196 were determined and analysed for the first time. The strains of chemolithotrophic ammonia-oxidizing bacteria, Nitrosomonas europaea IFO 14298, C-31, and Nitrosospira multiformis ATCC 254196, were used in this study.
