Tilapia zillii, Cyprinus carpio and Oreochromis niloticus were treated with 0.3 and 0.5 ppm azinphos-methyl to determine the effects of the organothiophosphate pesticide on the liver Na+ and K+-ATPase activity and malondialdehyde (MDA) of the freshwater fishes. Na+ and K+-ATPase activity decreased whereas MAD increased in T. zillii treated with 0.3 and 0.5 ppm azinphos-methyl for 24, 48, 72 and 96 h.
